Connecticut Woman Arrested for Possession of Stolen Firearm During New Haven Hospital Visit

Police are investigating the hospital incident involving a stolen gun and gunshot victim.

NEW HAVEN, CT – A routine hospital visit took an unexpected turn Thursday night when New Haven police arrested a woman for allegedly possessing a stolen firearm. The incident unfolded at Yale-New Haven Hospital’s Saint Raphael campus.

New Haven Hospital Incident Details

Authorities responded to the hospital at approximately 10:41 p.m. after a 37-year-old male walked in with a gunshot wound, reports the New Haven Register. According to police, the man claimed the shooting occurred on Hubinger Street. However, subsequent investigations found no crime scene at the specified location, leaving the circumstances of the shooting unclear.

The situation escalated when officers discovered that Manesha Gallishaw, 38, who had accompanied the wounded man to the hospital, was in possession of a stolen Smith and Wesson .22 handgun, reports WTNH.

Upon this discovery, Gallishaw was arrested and now faces several charges, including criminal possession of a firearm, carrying a pistol without a permit, and possession of a stolen firearm.

She remains in custody on a $250,000 bond, as confirmed by police reports.

The male victim, whose injuries were determined to be non-life-threatening, was also taken into custody after it was revealed he had an outstanding arrest warrant related to parole. Authorities have not disclosed further details regarding the nature of the warrant for his arrest.

The New Haven Police Department continues to investigate the incident and is urging anyone with information to come forward.
