Conn. College Hires Full-Time Officers as Student Population Increases
HAMDEN, Conn. — Officials at Quinnipiac University are planning to hire more security employees as a result of the increase in number of students at the university.
The university will hire 24 to 26 full-time security employees for the spring 2011 semester, reports QuadNews.net. Eight security officers were hired for the current semester. Each officer will undergo a screening process that includes a background check.
The new security personnel will replace the contracted security guards from a third party security company. Campus officials believe the hiring of full-time security personnel will not only help the university save money, but will keep the campus safer because the officers will be more familiar with the campus.
