CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Despite the increased attention on concealed carry on college campuses, not many students are requesting permission to carry their guns at Wyoming schools.
Additionally, several Wyoming colleges have chosen not to allow students to carry firearms on campus.
Students at Laramie County Community College (LCCC) and the University of Wyoming (UW) have the ability to ask school officials if they can have concealed carry weapons on campus. However, according to officials at both schools, not many students ask for permission, WyomingNews.com reports.
Yet, even if students did inquire about concealed carry on campus, it is unlikely that the student would receive permission, as many school security officers for both campuses believe the presence of too many firearms can inhibit the educational process. Officials at the safety office at the University of Wyoming [correction] said they would possibly approve someone who was either in a particularly bad domestic situation or has filed a stalking order against another individual.
