The girl who created a detailed school shooting plot in 2015 was sentenced to three years in a juvenile detention center Feb. 8.
Brooke Higgins, 17, was charged as an adult for her plan to carry out a shooting attack at Mountain Vista High School in Colorado.
Higgins had pled guilty to conspiracy to commit murder and solicitation to commit murder in December. Her co-conspirator, 17-year-old Sienna Johnson, faces similar charges.
“This agreement provided us the greatest opportunity to get the most public safety and justice for the community,” District Attorney George Brauchler said. “What this defendant did was not just idle chatter.”

Campus Safety had previously reported on Higgins school shooting plot, the details of which were withheld from the public for over a year.
Higgins and Johnson planned to carry out the attack on Dec. 17, 2015 before moving the attack to the following month because they couldn’t get a gun.
Police say Higgins planned to kill her mother and sister before going to the school “to shoot people around her before killing herself.”
Higgins also wrote in her journal that she was sad and tired “of everything and the only path with hope is one with evil, chaos and destruction.”
After Higgins completes her sentence, she’ll serve four years of supervised probation with mental health treatment, according to aol.com.
