A school resource officer at a New Jersey school saved a substitute teacher that had indicated she was choking on April 24.
The resource officer and substitute teacher were in the teacher’s lounge of Washington Elementary School in Lodi, New Jersey, when the teacher grabbed her throat. The officer, who is affiliated with the Lodi Police Department, then picked the teacher up off of her chair, administered the Heimlich maneuver on the teacher and popped the food out of her throat, according to cliffviewpilot.com.
Lodi Police Detective Captain Donald Scorzetti says the teacher was unable to speak or breathe when the school resource officer began the Heimlich maneuver.
Scorzetti also says the teacher was checked out by a nurse but required no further medical attention.
