CDC: 1 in 110 U.S. Children Have Autism
ATLANTA
According to a report released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Dec. 18, 1 percent of 110 U.S. children have autism spectrum disorders (ASDs).
The new estimate is from 2006 data from Alabama, Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Maryland, Missouri, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, and Wisconsin.
In October, a survey from the National Survey of Children’s Health estimated that about 1 in 91 children are diagnosed with autism.
ASDs are a group of developmental disabilities characterized by atypical development in socialization, communication and behavior.
