SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Police have arrested a woman after she fell through the ceiling at Spartanburg Regional Hospital when she tried to escape from authorities on Sunday.

The incident began when Christie Davis, 31, began throwing and breaking things in her friend’s home because she was angry that he had left her alone. When he was unable to settle her, he pushed her out of the backdoor, which led to Davis getting into her car and crashing into the side of the house, WYFF4 reports.

She then exited the vehicle and fled the scene; however the homeowner told police that he did not want to press charges due to Davis’ medical condition.

Police later learned that the car Davis had been driving was stolen and brought her into custody for questioning.

During the interrogation, Davis complained of being ill and authorities took her to Spartanburg Regional Hospital. After being examined by a doctor, Davis was escorted to the restroom by a nurse.

Davis locked the bathroom door, and after several minutes, an officer asked if she was OK and got no response. When hospital security unlocked the door, officers discovered the ceiling tiles removed and could hear Davis crawling through the ceiling.

During the incident, a ceiling tile fell and hit a security officer in the face, causing lacerations.

Davis eventually fell from the ceiling and was charged with simple assault and malicious injury to property. The woman will also be charged with possession of stolen property in connection to the stolen vehicle.
