LOS ANGELES – The Western Publishing Association (WPA) announced March 6 that Campus Safety magazine has been nominated for the Most Improved/Trade magazine Maggie Award.
“In only one year [from 2004 to 2005], Campus Security has made great strides towards achieving our goal of creating a publication that fosters the healthy exchange of best practices in the campus security community,” said Robin Hattersley Gray, executive editor for the magazine.
“Bobit Business Media purchased Campus Safety late in 2004 and upgraded the magazine’s look, content, tone and approach,” Gray adds. “The publication also doubled its commitment to editorial excellence, reporting on topics that are of intense interest to campus security officials. Exclusive interviews of industry movers and shakers, as well as of important political figures like former Department of Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge, were other achievements that helped Campus Safety earn the Most Improved/Trade magazine nomination.”
In addition to Campus Safety being named as a finalist, its sister publication, Security Sales & Integration was nominated for two Maggies, including Best Feature Article/Trade and Best Public Safety/Trade magazine.
Overall, more than 1,700 entries were received for the awards, which honor the top magazines published west of the Mississippi River.
The 55th Annual Maggie Awards will be announced April 21 during a ceremony at the Westin Hotel at Los Angeles Airport.
