Campus Garage Security Cameras Help Catch Vandals
CALIFORNIA, Penn. — Security cameras in the parking garage at California University of Pennsylvania helped security officers arrest two men accused of damaging vehicles used by the university’s park and transportation office.
Tyler Ballengee, 21, and Michael Koran, 20, were changed with institutional vandalism, criminal mischief and criminal conspiracy, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports. The damage to the cars — which are used for parking enforcement on campus — totaled $1,500.
Police distributed security camera images of the men to local newspapers and television station in February. The images were also used in a demonstration of the security system, and someone recognized the suspects. Neither man is a student at the university.
