California Community College Shooter Caught Nearly a Year After Incident

Published: October 13, 2008

RICHMOND, Calif. – A 22-year-old male was arrested Oct. 8 on suspicion of wounding a student police aide at Contra Costa College last November.

During the Nov. 8 incident, the student aide, Edgar Rocha, was shot by Christon Parker. At the time, Rocha was trying to stop Parker from entering an area where a police officer was trying to stop an auto burglary suspect.

Parker, who had not committed a crime, was on probation and carrying a handgun. His goal was to avoid jail time, thus, he shot the unarmed student aide.

Though Rocha was wearing protective gear, the bullet still damaged his pancreas, stomach and intestines.
