Calif. Hospital Employees Allegedly Run Salon in NICU

LOS ANGELES—Two hospital employees at Olive View-UCLA Medical Center are now on paid leave for running a makeshift salon in the neonatal intensive care unit (ICU).

The Department of Health is investigating anonymous complaints – filed with the Joint Commission – that alleges nurses and doctors got manicures and their eyebrows waxed with salon tools that often rested on medical devices, according to ABC 7 news.

Officials for the Department of Health said they immediately removed the two employees allegedly responsible for the makeshift salon. Additionally, other employees could face disciplinary actions if it is determined they were also involved.
