A student in Hisperia, California was taken into police custody for creating a detailed plan to shoot 33 students and staff members at his high school.
The unidentified Encore High School student was arrested Sept. 21 and is being charged with suspicion of terroristic threats and attempted murder, according to sbsun.com.
“The plot was very well detailed and he was very set on doing something at Encore High School,” San Bernardino Sheriff John McMahon says.
Police began investigating on Sept. 17 after a parent alerted local police of social media threats made by the boy. Police spoke to the suspect the following day, but weren’t able to obtain a search warrant until interviewing students and school staff members Sept. 19, reports abc7.com.

Police discovered a school shooting plan and a list of “potentials that could have been shot at the school” inside the suspect’s home. Explosives were also discussed in the plan and the school was searched by a bomb squad and K-9 units. The student also reportedly had limited access to firearms.
“There certainly was the potential in this case for harm,” McMahon says. “He had the intent and capability based on what we know today to carry out an attack at the school.”
Before the suspect’s arrest, the charter school had banned him from campus. Some parents say they’re upset classes were held Sept. 19 and 20 during the investigation.
Encore High school is arts-focused and part of the Encore Education Corp.
