FULLERTON, Calif. – Officials at California State University of Fullerton (CSUF) approved the raising of a new $6.3 million campus police building in order to receive accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA).
According to university officials, the 9,500-square-foot building will break ground in October, complete construction in December 2008 and house police officers by January 2009. Doubling the size of the current facility, plans include a 1,000-square-foot Emergency Operations Center (EOC), a 350-square-foot lobby, 16 office spaces and a larger locker room for future expansion. The EOC will be an area officers can use in the event of an earthquake, fire or terrorist threat.
CSUF police say the improved facility will have a positive affect on department service, including how the department receives visitors in the lobby and improving arrest processes.
