Burglary Suspect Arrested After Holding Student Hostage

MABLETON, Ga. — One of four people suspected of breaking into a home was taken into custody after he held a student from South Cobb High School hostage.

Police received multiple reports of burglary at a home, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. A male and a female in a silver Toyota were seen leaving the home, throwing items out of the vehicle such as cell phones and briefcases. Two other teens were seen running from the home but were later caught and arrested.

One of those teens, a 15-year-old boy, ran onto the South Cobb High School campus — where he has recently enrolled as a student — as classes were changing. The boy, who was in possession of a .38 caliber gun, took another student hostage.

Police used pepper spray on the suspect and took him into custody. The student hostage was uninjured.
