A brand new Frisco Independent School bus in Texas caught on fire Tuesday morning, but quick action by the driver prevented any injuries from happening. The driver, two students and another adult were able to get out of the backdoor safely before the bus became engulfed in flames.
Jeremiah Grider, who was driving the bus, says he noticed smoke coming out of the area of the radio and it didn’t look too bad at first, but quickly, the bus started burning.
One of five new buses, it had only been in service for a few days, according to WFAA. The other four were taken out of service for a safety check. A relief bus took the students to the middle school.
The school district praised Grider, and the Frisco Fire Department for their quick response and assistance.
