Published: July 31, 2008

REXBURG, Idaho – The police division of the Brigham Young University, Idaho may be disbanded if the state attorney general’s office determines it doesn’t have the proper authority on campus.

Ten police officers have served as full-time campus safety officials for the past 20 years. According to the Rexburg Police Department, the officers receive their authority through the city’s police department.

The decision of whether the police division will be disbanded is unclear; however, a decision could be made within the next few weeks.
