NEWTOWN, Conn. — In response to the deadly shooting that took place here in December, the Board of Finance unanimously voted Monday to create a $420,000 contingency plan, which would put armed police officers at the town’s four elementary schools.
The funds would also be used to provide backup for Reed Intermediate’s current school resource officer. Additionally, in a 5-1 vote, the Board of Selectman approved providing one-time grants up to $60,000 for three private schools.
