JONESBORO, Ark. – Arkansas State University (ASU) officials have suspended some Greek parties after a shooting injured an ASU student at a fraternity on Feb. 18.
Until further notice, Greek organizations have been barred from having parties at ASU public facilities. They can still hold fundraisers and other events. Also, fraternities that own houses can continue to host parties in them.
Since August, organizations hosting events have been responsible for providing their own security. Prior to August, they were required to hire ASU’s University Police Department (UPD) for parties. UPD stopped providing the service because it was considered a conflict of interest.
