DOVER, Ark. – School board members have approved the installation of a new camera system at Dover High School.
The system will have 17 cameras and will cost about $25,000. In 2006, board members voted for the purchase, but only for half of that amount.
The approval was in response to the theft of 19 laptops, graffiti and several acts of vandalism. None of the laptops were recovered, and replacement of the portable computer lab cost more than $21,000.
About $7,700 of the camera system’s cost will be covered by a grant from the state’s Department of Education.
