Anti-Semitic Hate Crime Being Investigated at N.Y. College

The incident is being investigated by the New York Police Department Hate Crimes Task Force.

New York police are investigating an assault on a Jewish student that took place in a Brooklyn college building.

The victim, a 24-year-old student who was wearing a kippah, was allegedly assaulted in an academic building of Medgar Evers College in Crown Heights, according to jta.org.

In the incident, an African-American male reportedly punched the student in the face, head and stomach before saying “I don’t like white and Jewish boys, leave the school you Jew.”

The victim did not require medical attention.

Police have talked with several witnesses of the attack and are reviewing the school’s video surveillance footage.

The case has been handed to the New York Police Department’s Hate Crimes Task Force because it has been ruled a bias assault.

It is unknown if the attacker is a student at the school.

Medgar Evers is in a diverse part of the city and is part of the City University of New York system.
