Ala. Community College Launches New Police Force

HANCEVILLE, Ala. — Wallace State Community College hired longtime former Cullman County Sheriff Tyler Roden to launch its new police force.

The new department will employ eight officers with the authority to make arrests, Roden said. Also, the new force means an end to the college’s 2008 contract with the sheriff’s office, the Cullman Times reports. The office provides five deputies to help patrol the campus.

The Cullman Police Department donated two surplus patrol cars to the new force.
