Officials announced increased security measures for a Cincinnati high school’s football game Sept. 30 following a shooting that wounded three Sept. 27.
Additional Cincinnati police officers will be at Elder High School’s football game as a general precaution, according to Cincinnati.com.
The extra officers are a response to the shooting, which occurred outside Elder’s athletic complex late at night. In that incident, a former police officer, his son and a teacher at the school sustained minor injuries.

The shooting occurred following a soccer game, although police do not believe it was related to the game and the victims were not targeted.
“You could not have had something more innocent if you tried. There were no alcoholic beverages,” Cincinnati Police Sgt. Dan Hils, who attended the game, says. “It was soccer players sitting around with their families and coaching staff. And somebody shot at us.”
Witnesses have said there were five shots fired.
The investigation is ongoing and no arrests have been made.
