Additional Security Measures Planned for UMass

AMHERST, Mass. – A $500,000 security upgrade at the University of Massachusetts (UMass), which includes plans to install 325 video security cameras on its campus, is expected to be completed by the end of the year.

According to university police, cameras will be placed at the entrances and exits of buildings in addition to cameras already installed in various outdoor and residential areas on campus.

UMass was recently named by the ABC News show “Primetime” as one of the most violent in the nation.
