LOS ANGELES, Calif. – A group of anti-animal research activists are claiming that they sent AIDS-tainted razor blades and a threatening note to a UCLA professor. The FBI and UCLA police are investigating the incident.
Neuroscientist David Jentsch received a package at his home containing razor blades and a letter, CNN reports. The Animal Liberation Front claimed responsibility for the package on their Web site, calling themselves “The Justice Department at UCLA.” In a previous incident, the group set Jentsch’s car on fire.
Jentsch, whose work is funded by the National Institutes of Health, uses vervet monkeys to research addiction in teenagers and cognitive disabilities in schizophrenic patients.
