ABILENE, Texas – The Abilene Independent School District Board of Trustees here approved a new security and fire/life-safety plan for its elementary schools.
The new plan would include video surveillance, fire alarm systems, new fencing, gates, aluminum framing, doors and glazing, ktxs.com reports.
The campuses involved with this project are Austin, Bassetti, Crockett, Dyess, Jackson, Martinez, Ortiz, Reagan, Taylor, Thomas, and Ward Elementary Schools.
The project will take more than a year to finish by Collier Construction Company in Lubbock, according to ktxs.com.

The project is being funded by a 2013 bond proposal that was approved by voters last November.
