Eight Michigan State University (MSU) football players have been suspended after an alleged dormitory assault. Two of the players were permanently dismissed from the team on Nov. 24 for violating team rules.
According to university officials, at least 10 players were involved in the alleged assault. The incident occurred at a dormitory within 90 minutes of an annual football banquet on Nov. 22, reports The Detroit News.
Players were identified through videos surveillance and witness testimonies. According to students, the assault involved 15 to 20 assailants and was spurred after an altercation at a night club the prior night. Several students were injured during the alleged attack.
No arrests or charges have been filed at this time.
