79,000 Cal State Students Notified of Data Breach

Student’s names, ID numbers and email addresses, among other things, may have been accessed in the breach.

Around 79,000 students from several campuses of California State University were told their information could’ve been accessed during a recent data breach.

We End Violence, a violence prevention education organization, discovered a data breach on August 24 and took down their website two days later, but tens of thousands of university students had already been affected.

Student information that could’ve been accessed includes names, student ID numbers, email addresses, gender identities and more.

The We End Violence organization is working to restore its data and asking users to change their passwords and look out for suspicious looking emails, according to scmagazine.com.

Although all potential victims are being notified, the organization stressed that they have no evidence that any of the information has been misused.
