COLLEGE PARK, Md. — Seven current and former members of the Zeta Phi Beta sorority at the University of Maryland, College Park, have been charged with assaulting and hazing a pledge.
A student told police she was assaulted on three different occasions while trying to join the sorority, The Washington Post reports. She alleges that she was pushed into a wall, struck repeatedly on her arms and struck with an oak paddle.
University administrators suspended campus recognition of the organization on the day the complaint was filed.
