4 Tucson Hospital Employees Fired for Accessing Patient Data
TUCSON, Ariz. — Four University Medical Center (UMC) employees — including three support employees and a contract nurse — have been fired for accessing confidential patient records.
Katie Riley, the hospital’s director of media relations, said the hospital was not aware of any of the information being released publicly. She said the breaches would be investigated and that the patients affected have been notified, USA Today reports.
Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, a victim of the Jan. 8 mass shooting, is a currently a patient at UMC.
