Three universities — the University of North Carolina (UNC), the University of Michigan (UM) and the University of Central Florida (UCF) — combatted fires on campus last week.
A fire in the Cobb Residence Hall at UNC on Nov. 5 forced an evacuation of 380 residents, WNCT.com reports. As many as 76 students who lived on the fourth floor of the dorm will be reassigned to other housing. It is unclear what caused the fire or the extent of the damage.
A four-wheel boom lift caught fire between the East Hall and West Hall on the University of Michigan’s campus around 2:52 a.m. on Nov. 7. A UM fire inspector determined that an electrical issue caused the fire. No one was injured, MLive.com reports.
Meanwhile, at UCF, investigators are looking what caused two vehicles to burst into flames just before 2 p.m. on Nov. 7 in Parking Garage A, the Click Orlando reports. Although no one was injured during the incident, four additional vehicles were affected by the fire.
