Three juveniles have been taken into police custody for allegedly setting a 15-year-old boy on fire. The teen suffered burns on more than three-quarters of his body.
According to news reports, Michael Brewer had refused to attend his Deerfield Beach Middle School classes on Oct. 12 after an incident occurred the day before when he tried to stop someone from stealing his father’s bicycle. Authorities are investigating whether the attack was tied to the incident.
The teen was ignited while at an apartment complex with a friend. He was allegedly splashed with a flammable liquid and set on fire.
The names of the juveniles in custody are not being released.
