HARLEM, N.Y.—Three Harlem elementary school students were pricked by medical lancets, the New York Department of Education confirmed.
A fourth grade student a P.S. 197 picked up three needles near Harlem Hospital on his way to school May 20. He handed one to a friend, and three children were pricked. One 11-year-old was pricked in the face, according to WABC.com.
The students have been tested for HIV and hepatitis. They have all been placed on medication; however, they will require more tests in three months.
Harlem Hospital officials said they are investigating the incident.

The school has suspended the student who brought the needles to school.
