200 Evacuated in UC Berkeley Dorm Fire

BERKELEY, Calif.—A three-alarm fire at a University of California, Berkeley eight-story residential dormitory resulted in the evacuation of nearly 200 students.

The fire began in a garbage shaft in the basement of Ehrman Hall around 4:55 a.m. on Saturday, according to TopNews.net. The fire was extinguished by 5:30 a.m.

The evacuated students were sent to another dorm during the event. They were allowed back into Ehrman Hall around 3 p.m.

Two students suffered from minor smoke inhalation. They have been treated and released.
