DOVER, Del. – Two students, both 17, were shot Sept. 21 at Delaware State University.
The students, a male and a female, were shot before 1 a.m. while departing from a café with a group of students, police state. The male student was shot in the ankle, while the female student suffered a wound to the abdomen. She is said to be in critical condition.
Police do not know the motive of this attack, however, it is believed the male victim knew his attacker, as he refused to answer questions from the police.
University officials immediately informed students about the shooting through phone calls, notifications in each dorm and off-campus apartments and a notice on the school’s Web site. Students were told not to leave their dorms until all was cleared.
Classes were also canceled for the day, and access into gates of the main entrance of the campus was denied.
The shooter is still at large.
