CONWAY, Ark. – Two students at the University of Central Arkansas are dead as a result of a campus shooting Oct. 26. Another person, who was not a student at the university, was wounded.
The shooting took place around 9:30 p.m. near a male dormitory. One victim, Ryan Henderson, 18, died at the scene. Charvareas Block, 19, died at Conway Regional Medical Center. The other victim, 19-year-old Martrevis Norman, was treated for a gunshot in the leg. He was not a student.
After the shooting, the university was locked down. Students and faculty were alerted of the incident by phone calls and E-mail through an automated system. All were urged to stay inside and lock their doors. It was the first time the system had been used since it was purchased.
Additionally, classes were cancelled the following day.
Police currently have two suspects in custody, and believe that two more participated in the incident. None of the suspects are students at the school. The first suspect was captured in a vehicle shortly after the shooting and the second turned himself in.
