HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. – “Advanced Incident Command and General Staff-Complex Incidents” (ICS 400) and “Incident Management/Unified Command (IM/UC) for WMD/Terrorism Incidents” (MGT 313, also the ICS-300 equivalent) will be held in San Pedro, Calif. July 31-Aug. 1 and Aug. 7-9 respectively. Both courses are free.

Advanced Incident Command and General Staff-Complex Incidents (ICS 400)
- Date: July 31-Aug. 1

- Basic description: This course provides training on and resources for personnel who require advanced application of the Incident Command System (ICS). The CDP has partnered with FEMA’s Emergency Management Institute (EMI) to delivery their Grants and Training approved ICS curriculum. Participants will be able to explain how major incidents engender special management challenges, describe the circumstances in which an Area Command is established and describe the circumstances in which multiagency coordination systems are established.

- Intended Audience: Attendees must be emergency response personnel of a local, state or federal emergency agency in good standing.

Incident Management/Unified Command (IM/UC) for WMD/Terrorism Incidents (MGT 313, also the ICS-300 equivalent)

- Basic description: This course meets (or exceeds) all of the NIMS/ICS training requirements listed in the DHS NIMS National Standard Curriculum Training Development Guidance, October 2005, at the ICS-300 level. This course trains emergency responders and their supervisors and managers in the skills necessary to effectively plan for and manage a WMD/terrorism incident by adapting the existing Incident Command System (ICS) to the unique challenges posed by the integration of local, state, and federal agencies and departments into a unified command structure. The course uses a multidiscipline jurisdictional team-building approach to accomplish the learning objectives. Upon course completion, participants will possess a working knowledge of local, state, and federal agency roles and responsibilities and their integration into a unified command system for crisis or consequence management.
- Delivery method: Lectures, small group discussions, participant activities, case studies, multimedia scenarios and a tabletop exercise
- Intended audience: Participants must work in a supervisory or managerial capacity in one of the following disciplines/services: LE, FS, EMS, EM, HZ, PW, PH, HC, and/or other emergency management response, support, volunteer personnel at all levels
- Prerequisites: The preferred prerequisite course is TEEX online course; WMD-006; “Incident Management / Unified Command Concepts”, found at http://teexwmdcampus.com . The “concepts” course contains materials on terrorism, weapons of mass destruction (WMD), and NIMS/ICS subjects which are essential for a complete understanding of the materials presented during the IM/UC course and are no longer covered in the IM/UC course.
