1 Student Dead, 2 in Critical Condition Following DWI Crash

First year student Michael Hedges was pronounced dead at Albany Medical Center hours after the accident.

A Skidmore College student was killed and two others are in critical condition after an allegedly drunk driver hit them on Oct. 31.

Michael Hedges, 19, was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital and the two other students, Oban Galbraith, 18, and Toby Freeman, 19, are in critical condition, according to oneidispatch.com.

The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office charged Thomas H. Gorman, 64, with three counts of first-degree vehicular assault and one count of driving while intoxicated. More charges are expected to be filed as the investigation continues.

The accident occurred behind the New York college’s campus late on Saturday night.

Skidmore College is assisting in the investigation and is offering counseling services for classmates of the victims, who were all first year students at the school.
