BEIJING—As many as 13 Chinese college students were wounded by knives this week in the latest string of rampages at China schools.
Roughly five to six men, armed with knives and cleavers, wounded nine students at a southern China college dormitory. Unlike the other incidents, the pre-dawn attack at Hainan Institute of Science and Technology appeared to be in revenge for an earlier confrontation between students and villagers, according to MSNBC.
On Tuesday, students who were eating at a food stand outside the college got into a fight between men from a nearby village. Four students were attacked with knives. Police were called, but left after questioning the students. Around 2:30 a.m., the men attacked the dormitory in retaliation.
The assailants first assaulted a guard and disabled security cameras before bursting into two dormitories and randomly attacking students.
One student had his hand cut off; eight others suffered varying degrees of injuries.
