11 SUNY Volleyball Players Arrested for Hazing

GENESEO, N.Y. — Eleven members of the State University of New York (SUNY) at Geneseo’s women’s volleyball team were arrested Saturday after police learned that an underage member of the team was taken to a hospital for alcohol poisoning.

During a team gathering, students were allegedly blindfolded, handcuffed and ordered to drink alcohol, The Lamron reports. Only one student was hospitalized, but a total of eight freshmen were reportedly hazed.

The volleyball team will be suspended from play for the start of the season, according to Robert Bonfiglio, vice president for student and campus life. The length of the suspension has yet to be determined.
