Congratulations to Elizabeth School District Director of Safety and Security Mike Newton for being named one of this year’s K-12 Campus Safety Director of the Year finalists.

Here are some of his notable achievements:

  • Applied for and was awarded about $730,000 in school safety grants focused on radio interoperability and school hardening.
  • Installed new security cameras, signage, and door numbers, resulting in $44,000 savings.
  • Coordinated with local law enforcement for a thorough Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design site survey assessment.
