Congratulations to Northern Virginia Community College Director of Emergency Management and Safety Thomas Mayhew for being one of this year’s Campus Safety Director of the Year finalists.
Here are some of his notable achievements:
- Assigned unique addresses to more than 100 college buildings and provided unique identifiers for each entrance to facilitate expeditious entry by first responders in an emergency.
- Created an outreach program that made the campus community aware of life-saving information and successfully elicited their support in augmenting emergency management programs and activities across the entire crisis response spectrum, including prevention and preparation, response, mitigation and recovery.
- Developed and executed NOVA’s first full-scale emergency exercise.
