El Centro College Officials Reflect on the Dallas Police Shooting

Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) Officer Brent Thompson, 43, was a former Marine who had been with the department since 2009. Thompson was the first DART officer to be killed in the line of duty since the department’s inception in 1989.

Before DART he worked for a private military contractor in Afghanistan and Iraq training local police in the tactics of “democratic policing,” according to his LinkedIn profile. He regularly referred to his “Brothers and Sisters in Blue” in Facebook posts.

Brent leaves behind a wife, several children and numerous family members. A Go Fund Me page has been created for his family.
