Corporal Joshua Rondeno
University of New Orleans Police Department Corporal Joshua Rondeno was walking up a stairwell in his department headquarters with several items in his hands when a man grabbed his head and placed a knife to his throat. Rondeno was able to drop his items and get the knife away from the attacker before grabbing his service weapon.
At that point, the suspect charged him and Rondeno was forced to fire several rounds at the suspect, striking the suspect. The man dropped the knife and was placed under arrest.
The suspect later admitted he planned to ambush a UNOPD officer to steal the officer’s firearm.
