Spotlight on K-12 School/District Campus Safety Director of the Year Finalist Rich Payne

Congratulations to Rich Payne, Safety Director at Academy District 20 (ASD20), for being named one of this year’s K-12 school/district Campus Safety Director of the Year finalists.

Some of his notable achievements include:

  • Changed officer uniforms so they wouldn’t be confused with local law enforcement. This helped repair officer relationships with students, parents, staff, and administrators.
  • Standardized drills, exercises, and department oversight for consistency among various campuses.
  • Created a new security detail for school board meetings during the COVID-19 pandemic to help maintain security when meetings became hostile.
