Congratulations to Joseph Hough, Assistant Superintendent of Auxiliary Services and School Safety at Buncombe County Public Schools, for being named one of this year’s K-12 school/district Campus Safety Director of the Year finalists.
Some of his notable achievements include:
- Installed GPS tracking systems on all buses, enabling school staff and mechanics to get to a bus location quickly when there is an accident or discipline issue.
- Conducted on-site inspections of schools that resulted in the rate of unlocked doors dropping from 55% to 10%.
- Wrote and obtained a $150,000 grant to pay for Stop the Bleed kits in more than 2,000 classrooms.
