Spotlight on K-12 School/District Campus Safety Director of the Year Finalist Joseph Hough

Congratulations to Joseph Hough, Assistant Superintendent of Auxiliary Services and School Safety at Buncombe County Public Schools, for being named one of this year’s K-12 school/district Campus Safety Director of the Year finalists.

Some of his notable achievements include:

  • Installed GPS tracking systems on all buses, enabling school staff and mechanics to get to a bus location quickly when there is an accident or discipline issue.
  • Conducted on-site inspections of schools that resulted in the rate of unlocked doors dropping from 55% to 10%.
  • Wrote and obtained a $150,000 grant to pay for Stop the Bleed kits in more than 2,000 classrooms.
