Congratulations to Jennifer Griffin, Chief of Police and Vice President for Public Safety at Temple University in Philadelphia, for being named one of this year’s Campus Safety Director of the Year finalists.

Some of her notable achievements include:

  • Required officers with patrol vehicles to walk in their patrol areas for 90 minutes of their 12-hour shifts, leading to many more connections with the campus community.
  • Signed an agreement with Philadelphia PD allowing it and TUPD to access each other’s video surveillance cameras, as well as installed weapons detection and license plate recognition software on many of the security cameras on campus.
  • Burglaries, motor vehicle thefts, thefts from auto and aggravated assaults have a combined 28% decrease in 2024 compared to 2023 within the university’s patrol zone.

Winners of this year’s Director of the Year award will be announced at this summer’s National Campus Safety Conference, taking place in Austin, Texas, July 21-23. For more information and to register for the event, visit CampusSafetyConference.com.
