Lehigh Police Officer Given Jeanne Clery Award

Lehigh University's Sgt. Chris Houtz was selected from a national field of about 50 nominees.

A Lehigh University police sergeant was honored with the Jeanne Clery Award for Campus Safety on Nov. 18.

Sgt. Chris Houtz was given the annual award for his 14 years of service with the Lehigh University Police Department, according to lehighvalleylive.com.

Houtz has been named “Officer of the Year” at the university twice and also served as an advisor to the school’s Emergency Medical Service.

The award was presented by Connie Clery, who has worked to improve campus safety since her daughter’s death at Lehigh in 1986.
