VTV Family Outreach Foundation Unveils Campus Safety Self-Assessment Tools
Attend the launch Aug. 13 at George Mason University to learn more about these free assessments that cover sexual violence, physical security, hazing, mental health and more.
The 32 National Campus Safety Initiative (32NCSI) is a series of free, confidential, online self-assessment tools, covering alcohol and drug abuse prevention and intervention, campus public safety, emergency management, hazing, mental health, missing students, physical security sexual violence and threat assessments. The 2007 Va. Tech mass shooting prompted their creation.
The VTV Family Outreach Foundation announces the launch of a brand new resource to help U.S. institutions of higher education improve safety and security on campus. The foundation is offering the 32 National Campus Safety Initiative (32 NCSI), which is a series of free, confidential, online self-assessment tools, covering alcohol and drug prevention and intervention, campus public safety, emergency management, hazing, mental health, missing students, physical security sexual violence and threat assessments.

Each of the nine assessments is designed around industry standards and best practices to help institutions reflect on their own policies and practices to identify institutional strengths and weaknesses. All information shared through the 32 NCSI program will be kept strictly confidential.
“We are providing a revolutionary resource for higher education fueled by the passion of victims from one of our nation’s worst tragedies and driven by multidisciplinary experts,” says Peter Lake, the Chairman of 32 NCSI’s Advisory Council and a professor of law at Stetson University. “Institutions are sometimes criticized for campus safety efforts. For the first time, there is now a tool to help campuses implement effective programs across a wide variety of safety metrics.”
College and university law enforcement, security professionals, administrators, emergency managers, mental health practitioners and other stakeholders involved in all facets of campus public safety and security are invited to learn about this new platform on Aug. 13 at George Mason University.
At the event, attendees will learn how to use this new platform. They will also have the opportunity to network with other campus safety leaders and show their support for increased campus safety.
The launch festivities will take place on Thursday, Aug. 13, starting at 11 a.m. at George Mason’s Center for the Arts, 4400 University Dr., Fairfax, Va. 22030 in the Grand Tier III room. A light lunch will be served at noon.
