Several Fresno College Athletes Suspected of Raping Girl

FRESNO, Calif. – Possibly 10 men, many of whom are football players at Fresno Community College and Reedley College, stand accused of raping an 11-year-old runaway girl.

The victim claims she was visiting a friend at a Fresno apartment complex on July 8 when she was assaulted several times. According to authorities, they have two suspects in custody, Eddie Scott, 19, and Mackey Davis, 20. Both have been arrested for child molestation and oral copulation with a victim under 18. Officials say they also have evidence linking other players to the crime.

The apartment where the alleged assaults took place is occupied by four of the suspects. Police say Fresno Community College’s head coach made arrangements for the four to stay there.

The other players, now deemed “persons of interest,” consulted with an attorney and then fully cooperated with police.

Authorities say more arrests are likely, pending DNA tests. The victim, who did not sustain serious injuries, is now in the custody of Child Protective Services.
