NEW YORK — Police have arrested the head of security at Kings County Hospital on felony charges for lying about his credentials.

Hospital officials hired 59-year-old John Perfetto after the June 2008 death of Esmin Green, a psychiatric patient at the hospital, who died after waiting nearly 24 hours for assistance. In his position, Perfetto, who was hired Jan. 5, 2009, was expected to address allegations of patient abuse.

Perfetto was fired Sept. 8. His responsibilities included overseeing hospital security personnel, watching over drug supplies and medical equipment and protecting patients and staff.
